October was a month full of Camp Weddings! So many people were welcomed into the Wasewagan family and some absolutely gorgeous ceremonies were conducted. Even a bit of rainy weather could not stop such an amazing weekend full of love and smiles. We are overjoyed that so many couples have used our camp venue and forest scenery as the backdrop for their special day. Each new group brings with it such amazing energy and dresses up Wasewagan to fit their dream wedding style. We never get tired of seeing Wasewagan on the River transformed into such a romantic scene. Also, we had some guests that boldly claimed they wanted their weddings at Wasewagan after having such a wonderful experience with us. If that is something you’ve thought about, let us know, there are plenty of weekends available still for another Forest Wedding at Wasewagan!
November has been quite a different story as Scout Weekends, Girl Scout Retreats, Church Retreats and School Retreats have filled up our calendar. The camp can be a really magical place during the Winter time and often subverts expectations as to exactly what a Winter Retreat can be!
Just this last weekend we hosted a school group that has been making a tradition of Wasewagan for 3 years and show no signs of stopping. They chose to fill the weekend with competitions ranging from academic to artistic. First off was an academic decathlon where students showcased their knowledge of various subjects such as art, history, math, science and literature. We were blown away by their prowess, memory and retention of such a wide array of subject matters. Next, the students performed a talent show, displaying some truly remarkable talents. Finally, the weekend was capped off with a play reenactment of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. Overall, the annual tradition was a success and we look forward to hosting this school group again. Such amazing displays of prowess by these students.
